Ōkyo is one of Japan’s most famous painters. He introduced a new style of painting which incorporated the European practice of drawing object’s more realistically than did Asian artists of the time. Today this style is called maruyama. This gallery shows thirty-one of his flower and (or) bird paintings. Click on a picture to enlarge it.
